Cornflower Cottage Accessibility

This cottage is the middle barn conversion in a row of three.

This cottage sleeps 6 with three bedrooms, one downstairs twin room and bathroom, and two upstairs bedrooms, one double and one twin and two further bathrooms.

Arrival and Car Parking

  • Luggage can be unloaded 25 meters from the front door. There is level access and the ground is either tarmac or paving.
  • Car Parking is available 25 meters from the cottage door. A space can be reserved on the tarmac if requested. Otherwise car parking is on an unbound but fairly solid surface.
  • The front door to the cottage has a wooden threshold strip that is 7cm high. The door is 95cm wide.

The Cottage

The cottage has full oil fired central heating with individual thermostatic valves on the radiators and a control system that is within the cottage. There are smoke alarms and a fire blanket and small extinguisher. There are small plug in emergency lighting lamps and a torch under the sink. All doors are Yale type and can be opened from the inside without keys.

Hall

  • The hall is 100cm wide and from it leads doors to the downstairs bathroom, kitchen and downstairs twin bedroom.
  • All internal doors downstairs are at least 87cm wide.

Downstairs Twin Bedroom

  • All beds have bedside lamps and a switch for the central light which is operated from the bed.
  • This room is 420cm by 360cm with an additional 180cm by 200cm added to make an L shape.
  • There is a door which leads into the bathroom.
  • The two single beds are 54cm high (from the floor to the top of the mattress and can be moved sideways to provide ample room (150cm) in-between as necessary. They have wooden headboards and baseboards.
  • There is free standing furniture in the room which can be moved around if necessary.

Downstairs Bathroom (accessed from the hall and from the bedroom)

  • This room is 195cm by 350cm and has a tiled floor.
  • There is a corner level entry shower which is 115cm by 75cm with a sturdy hand rail. It is surrounded by curtains.
  • The basin is 80cm high and is wall hung.
  • There is a towel rail.
  • Loo is 48cm high and has a hand rail on each side.

Kitchen

  • The kitchen has a tiled floor and is 545cm by 285cm.
  • There are fitted units on two sides. The work surface is 90cm.
  • The table is 80 by 175. It has a leg at each corner and is 75cm high with an under table height, (ie to the bottom of the table) of 65cm.
  • There are wooden kitchen chairs without arms. Seat height is 45cm.

Sitting Room

  • This room is carpeted.
  • It is 545cm by 640cm with a short passage to the bottom of the stairs which is 140cm wide.
  • There are three sofas a one chair with a seat height of 40cm.
  • There is a free standing reading lamp.
  • There is a remote control TV with freeview and DVD player with subtitles available.
  • The patio doors are 115cm wide with a 4cm step out onto a level patio which has table and chairs for outdoor eating.

Stairs

  • There are 12 carpeted stairs 80cm wide and 20cm high and 23cm deep. There is a sturdy rail on one side with a narrow rail on the other.
  • The upstairs doorways are all 65cm wide or wider, and stair gates are available.

Bathroom

  • The room is 420cm by 120cm with a narrow entrance of 65cm. It has vinyl flooring.
  • The bath is 53cm high and is built into a corner and so is only accessible for half of its width.
  • The loo is 42cm high and the basin has a conventional pedestal.

Upstairs Twin Bedroom

  • The room is 275cm by 560cm and is fully carpeted.
  • There are two single beds (90cm by 195cm) which are 55cm high and have wooden headboards.
  • There is a freestanding wardrobe and dressing table.

Upstairs Double Room

  • The room is 270cm by 480cm and is fully carpeted.
  • The king sized bed is 150cm by 200cm and is 52cm high. It has a wooden headboard and baseboard.
  • It has freestanding dressing table and cupboard and hanging space in a corner.

Bathroom

  • The bathroom is 145cm by 270cm and has a vinyl floor.
  • There is a quadrant corner shower which is 90cm by 990cm with a 25cm step into it and the door is 52cm wide.
  • The loo is 42cm high.
  • The basin is 80cm high and has a conventional pedestal.
